AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP)—Kyle Busch has wrecked nine laps into the Nationwide Series race at Phoenix International Raceway.

Busch needs only to finish 15th or better Saturday to clinch the Nationwide title.

He started fourth, but lost control of his Toyota and hit the outside wall to cause significant left-side damage to his car.

Busch pitted twice for repairs and restarted in 35th.

Busch began the race with a 247-point lead over Carl Edwards in the standings.
