The Darlington Historic Racing Festival will return to the track Too Tough To Tame for a third consecutive year, raceway president Chris Browning announced.

This year’s event, to be held Sept. 24-26, has been expanded to include a third day to accommodate a swap meet and car show, both of which are new additions. The event, which features the cars and stars that made motorsports the spectacle it is today, will include hundreds of historic race cars from several different eras including stock cars, Indy roadsters, modifieds, midgets and sprint cars.

Appearances from some of NASCAR’s biggest legends also will highlight the event. Harry Gant will headline this year’s driver appearance schedule. Gant’s NASCAR career spanned 22 years and included four victories at Darlington. Other NASCAR personalities attending this year’s event include Johnny Allen, Ray Fox, Charlie Glotzbach, Ned Jarrett, Bud Moore, Cotton Owens, Marvin Panch, Rex White, Waddell Wilson and Leonard Wood.

In addition to signing autographs, Gant, Wilson, Jarrett and Wood will participate in a question-and-answer session moderated by legendary Motor Racing Network announcer Barney Hall.

“Each year the Darlington Historic Racing Festival has gotten bigger and better and this year is no exception,” Browning said. “The addition of the swap meet and car show will add to the festival atmosphere making the event even more enjoyable for fans of all ages.”

The Darlington Historic Racing Festival has built a reputation of hosting some of racing’s most legendary names during its short existence. The 2009 star-studded driver lineup which included Cale Yarborough, David Pearson, Junior Johnson, Jarrett, Panch and open-wheel legend Johnny Rutherford was a true tribute to racing’s most prestigious events with nine Southern 500, seven Daytona 500 and three Indianapolis 500 victories represented between the drivers.
